Recycled Bags Made From Ring Pulls:What A Refreshing Idea!

….Just imagine a beach in Rio… Sugar Loaf Mountain in the background, soft white sand underfoot, warm sunshine, and lots and lots of discarded ring pulls. Ouch!

That was, until Da-Lata cleaned up the scene by recycling ring-pulls into a range of high street accessories and bags.

Pure Design, online store, sells work by independent ethical brands like Da-Lata and helps inject a little sustainability into UK shoppers lives. At the same Pure Design supports the worthy causes and charities many of these brands are linked to.

All of Da-lata’s accessories are handmade in Brazil from 1000’s of discarded ring pulls using traditional crochet techniques. Da-Lata work closely with a women’s cooperative in Brazil that helps young girls out of vulnerable situations and teaches them how to crochet, craft the accessories, and earn a living. The ring pulls are collected by ‘catadores’ (can pickers) which also generates employment and keeps the beaches clean.

So even though you may not have been to a beach in Brazil, your bag may have!
