Eco Friendly Bags

In the U.K alone shops give out 8 billion plastic bags every year. The bags that are not reused or recycled end up in land fill sites or our water system. They take over 500 years to decay and annually 100,000 fish, birds and sea mammals die needlessly because they mistake plastic packaging for food and eat it or become entangled in it.

Freeset bags

fair trade jute bags

Where FairTrade Brings Freedom

Freeset is located in Sonagacchi, the largest, most infamous sex district in Kolkata, India. Freeset opened its doors in 2001 with twenty women to manufacture quality jute bags whilst also providing intervention and employment to women who had been trafficked into prostitution. We now employ over 140 women who manufacture our export quality bags.

A wide selection of customised bags made from jute, hessian and organic fairtrade cotton are now available. Choose from our standard designs or talk to us about developing a new bag to suit your needs.

Green Policies

The Freeset Trust is a charitable organization which operates alongside the business providing literacy classes, child care, budgeting and debt management services. Freeset exists specifically to provide freedom for women from the sex trade.

All profits from Freeset in Kolkata benefit the women (salary, health insurance and retirement plan) and are used to grow the business. This means more women can be employed and experience freedom
