Green Policies

SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow) was developed by Sustainable Homes in partnership with the Tenants Services Authority, WWF, Bank of Scotland Corporate and the UK Green Building Council. SHIFT members own and manage over one million homes nationwide. SHIFT members are recognised as environmental leaders. Membership of SHIFT brings direct benefits in six key areas: • Performance. How good is your organisation’s environmental performance and what can you do to improve? SHIFT will provide an independent detailed assessment across all activities. As part of the assessment you will be given a comprehensive report identifying what actions you can take to improve your environmental performance. • Benchmarking. How do you compare with your peers? SHIFT membership provides you with the ability to benchmark your performance against that of your peers. • Funding. Do you know how to get your hands on the myriad of grants that are available? As a SHIFT member you will get practical advice on how to secure funding and grants. • Policy and influence. Government policy is changing all the time – how do you keep up? We provide early, and clear, briefing notes on changes in government policy to SHIFT members and provide opportunities for influencing policy making. • Learning. As a member of SHIFT you will be given ample opportunity to share best practice with peers, practitioners and experts. Training is at the heart of Sustainable Homes. We have over ten years of experience in delivering training on sustainability in the housing and construction sector. Our trainers are leaders in their field and include accredited assessors for the Code for Sustainable Homes, SAP and the National Home Energy Rating (NHER).
